THE FACILITY
Zen Mountain Monasterys main building is a striking and stately four-story stone and wood structure handcrafted at the turn of the century by Norwegian craftsmen. It was built with bluestone and white oak taken directly from Tremper Mountain, and it houses a 150-person meditation hall, retreat spaces, resident and guest housing, dining hall, offices, and library. The building with its surrounding property, bordered by two of New Yorks most scenic waterways, the Beaverkill and Esopus Rivers, was designated a state and federal historic landmark in 1994.
